FAQ
Straight answers, including the ones that are not flattering. The docs cover the technical side.
The basics
What is Assetflow?
A market for digital assets — datasets, code, models, media — that settles directly between wallets. Your file is encrypted before it leaves your browser, ownership is a token you hold yourself, and a sale is one transaction that swaps that token for USDG. Nothing is deposited with us and nothing has to be withdrawn.
How is that different from a normal marketplace?
A marketplace takes custody. You upload, it holds the file and the money, it sets the terms, and it owns the relationship with your buyer. Assetflow never holds either side. The protocol coordinates the trade; the blockchain settles it.
What can I sell?
19 categories today — Code, Datasets, AI models, Agents & automations, Context packs, Signals & strategies, Science & lab data, Geospatial, Archives & records, Hardware & fabrication, Simulation, Images, Video, Audio, Text, 3D & game, Design, Templates & kits, Models & sheets. The settlement contract does not care what it is moving, so the catalogue can widen without a protocol change. Browse what is listed.
Is it live?
Yes. The contracts are deployed and trades settle on Robinhood Chain.
Buying and selling
Do I need crypto to use this?
No. Sign in with Google and a wallet is created for you — no seed phrase, no extension, nothing to install. You will need USDG to buy something, but you never need the native token, because Assetflow pays the gas on every transaction.
Can I use a wallet I already have?
Yes. Sign in, open the account menu, and connect an existing wallet. Both live on the same account and you choose which one is active — the active wallet is the one a trade settles against.
What do I actually pay in gas?
Nothing. Selling needs no approval transaction, buying uses a signature instead of one, and listing is submitted on your behalf. In every case you sign a message and Assetflow broadcasts it.
What stops the other side from taking my asset without paying?
The two legs are one transaction. The licence moves to the buyer and the USDG moves to the seller together, or the transaction reverts and neither moves. Nobody sends first.
What does it cost?
A 1% protocol fee on each settlement, taken from the payment leg. Creators can set a royalty of up to 10% that is paid on resales. Both are deducted inside the settlement transaction, so there is nothing to collect afterwards.
Can I sell something to exactly one person?
Yes. An exclusive listing has a supply of one, and the seller’s copy is burned on sale, so the buyer holds the only licence in existence. You can also sell a limited edition of N, or an open edition with unlimited licences.
Your files
Where does my file actually live?
Your browser encrypts it with AES-256-GCM before anything is uploaded, and only the ciphertext is pinned to IPFS. Nothing readable ever reaches a server. Buyers get a decryption key once they hold the licence token.
Can Assetflow read my file?
Today, yes — and we would rather say so than let you find out later. Decryption keys are derived from a master secret held by our key gateway, which is what lets a buyer unlock a file the moment they own the licence. The ciphertext and its hash are public and permanent, so that gateway can be replaced with threshold decryption later without moving a single file. Until then it is a real trust point.
What stops a buyer re-uploading what they bought?
Nothing does, and no amount of cryptography changes that. Once someone can read a file they can copy it. What Assetflow gives you is provenance — on-chain proof of who holds the original licence — plus exclusive listings where your copy burns on sale. If a marketplace tells you it has solved this, it is lying to you.
How big can a file be?
2 GB per listing for now.
What is not allowed?
Pirated or infringing media, scraped personal data and PII, credentials and API keys, and malware sold for use. The contracts stay permissionless; enforcement happens at the key gateway, which simply refuses to release a key for a denied listing.
Accounts and chain
Which chain is this?
Robinhood Chain, id 4663. Trades settle in USDG, the Global Dollar stablecoin. The docs list every address.
What happens if I lose access to my Google account?
Your wallet is tied to your Privy account rather than to a single login, so you can add another login method — email, another provider, or an existing wallet — and keep the same address. Do that before you need it.
Who can see what I own?
Ownership is a public on-chain fact, so anyone can see which address holds which licence. What is not public is the file itself, or the link between your address and your email.
